Product description
The traditional Seder Plate is a very important and meaningful part of a Pesach Seder table, with each bowl containing symbolic foods to represent different elements of the story of Exodus. Of all the Jewish holidays, Pesach is definitely my favourite. It's about overcoming impossible odds, it's merry and interactive and, typically, there's LOTS of food, so.. You got a happy girl here 😂🍲
The Hebrew in each of the bowls above reads (clockwise from the top), 'Maror', 'Karpas', 'Beitzah', 'Chazeret', 'Charoset', 'Zeroah'.
Served in a specific order (and please note, the photo does not reflect this), each food is eaten at a different point while reading the story of Exodus. The Maror and Chazeret are bitter herbs like horseradish to represent the bitter experience of slavery in Egypt. The Karpas is usually parsley dipped in salt water, to represent the tears shed. The Beitzah is an egg, an ancient symbol of mourning. The Zeroah is a lamb shank bone, to symbolise the sacrificial lamb whose blood was painted on the doorways of the Israelites. And the Charoset, my absolute fave, is a sweet mixture of apples, nuts and cinnamon to represent the bricks and mortor used to build the stone houses and pyramids of Egypt.
I'll only be making an EXTREMELY LIMITED number of these, so if you'd like to order one, please do so now to ensure you don't miss out!
PLEASE NOTE: Gold lustre is not a fully food-safe glaze, so for safety's sake we recommend that you use the food in the plates with 24k gold lustre for display purposes only.
